My husband, sous chef and I are off on a whirlwind trip to California today. We leave this afternoon and get back on Sunday. We’re attending the wedding of a very dear friend of mine and I’m excited to see her take this very important step in her life.
I’m also very excited to eat a burrito. I’ve missed Papalote so much since moving to the Midwest. The Mexican food here just ‘aint the same. My plan is to bring a dress for the wedding that is a full size too big, so I can eat three burritos on Friday and still be somewhat presentable on Saturday.
It’s good to have goals.
I’m NOT excited to spend a total of ten hours on a plane with a teething sous chef in my lap. My husband and I bought her approximately two hundred new, never before seen books to look at on the plane. I imagine she’ll be sick of them within an hour and hurling them at our seatmates within two.

Yesterday was Michaelmas, the first I’ve celebrated since becoming Catholic. St. Michael has always held a special place in my heart and it was a true joy to celebrate his day with my family.
Immediately after I hit “publish” on my Autumn post, the temperature soared to 75 degrees and our AC kicked on. So, I guess I’ll have to hold off on making soup and wearing sweaters and all that good stuff for another few weeks. Now I’m just a fool with a porch full of pumpkins in near 80 degree weather. Sigh.

Congratulations on finding a parish! When we left our previous parish after many years it just broke our hearts, but we knew it was no longer the place for us. I think we’ve found our new church home, but I’m moving slowly just to make sure. But it FEELS right, and that means a lot
