7 Quick Takes

1 Mar

Joining Jen and the Quick Takers once again.

1. Life has been pretty quiet around here. Like half the country, we’re waiting for winter to be over and it appears to be taking it’s sweet time. There’s been a lot of snowman building and cocoa drinking happening in our neck of the woods. It’s nice enough, but I’m ready for spring. The girls need some more time outside and their Mommy needs a little Vitamin D that is not from a pill. I believe I just wrote my first take about the weather, which does not bode well for the rest of this list.

2. Jillian and I have been spending time together every afternoon for the past 9 days. She’s very annoying, but I kind of love her. Actually I love her sidekick, Anita, and her abs. She’s my inspiration and (bonus!) she modifies the moves to make them easier for schlubb-os like me. Win win. So far I have lost exactly 0 pounds but I’ve noticed a difference in my energy and the way my clothes fit. So, something seems to be happening even if my liar of a scale would indicate otherwise.

3. So far Lent is going well, except for that whole saying goodbye to our dear Pope business that happened yesterday. I feel sadness, but happiness and then more sadness. Bea said yesterday: Mommy is you so sad about the pope? Upon seeing that I was, she reassured me with: Is otay, Mommy, the Pope is on the fridge. He is indeed on our fridge in the form of a postcard sent to us from Rome by some friends. I’m also linking to these beautiful pics from Jen’s blog because they can say more about how I feel than I can.

4. Speaking of all things Catholic, I’ve recently been mulling over the idea of writing up the story of my conversion for this blog. I feel like I’m finally ready to write about it and thought maybe you (three) readers might be interested? I’ve had a lot of questions from friends and family. Most are incredibly supportive, but there have been a few raised eyebrows along the way. In any case, it’s probably a good exercise, although, whether I hit publish remains to be seen.

5. Now, about the girls…Hazel has recently grown very attached to the lid of a play-doh container and totes it around everywhere. It was a gift from Bea and has become much beloved by the little sis.

6. I posted this on Facebook, so for those of you who are my friends I’m sorry for the repeat. Bea’s face here just makes me so happy. Here she is with “Mr. Snowman,” (who was sadly decapitated by a squirrel two days later).

7. We are officially potty trained around here! Woot!!  Have a nice weekend!

    Yes!! Post the story.
    Please?!

And j is attached to a Tupperware lid — why is it so endearing?

Your girls are so cute and Jillian is the worst/best!

Alright, I’m going to write this story. It’s going to probably be in about ten parts, but I think I can do it. Thanks for the encouragement, you are the best!

I found the same thing with Jillian. No weight loss but my clothes fit differently and my legs looked rockin! It must be losing fat and gaining muscle! Scales are for fish, not people. Try not to worry about the number (although, I am being a huge hypocrite writing that).

I would love to see your conversion story!

And woot woot for potty training! I mean you did have A LOT (four years, am I correct?) of practice with Ry!

    xoxo

Why does Jillian gotta be so sneaky, replacing my fat with heavy muscle and making me feel healthy?

And yes, I had a lot of potty training experience with Ryan, but, to be fair for the last two years or so he was changing his own pull ups!
